Freightliner

Selling about 190,000 trucks annually, the Freightliner is considered the top-selling truck across the United States, equating to a 40% market share. Among all models under the Freightliner brand, the 2007 model is the most popular. Moving forward, Freightliner aims to make big innovations in the truck manufacturing industry, with its introduction of a SuperTruck that features an aerodynamic design and other cutting edge technologies making it capable to get 12mpg. Aside from that, Freightliner is also rolling out their all-electric commercial vehicle line, Freightliner e-Mobility, with the eM2 106 and the eCascadia.

Kenworth

Established in 1912 as a car and truck dealership known as Gerlinger Motor Car Works, Kenworth is an American automotive manufacturer that specializes in medium and heavy-duty class 8 trucks. Its first original commercial truck was a powerful inline six-cylinder engine rolled out in 1914. Kenworth has gone a long way, as it is now valued with annual revenue of 19.1 billion dollars from an average sales of 154,000 trucks sold every year, giving them a market share of 14%. Its most popular model, the Kenworth W900, has a 600 horsepower engine and is known for its long-nose hood.

Peterbilt

Making up 13% of the market share in America, Peterbilt is a manufacturer of medium- and heavy-duty trucks. Supplying the North American commercial vehicle market with rugged, reliable, and efficient trucks, the Peterbilt 379 is one of their most popular models in the market. Peterbilt is also one of the most widely recognized brands, with their successful marketing paving the way for their iconic oval red logo with script-style lettering to make it on trucker clothing lines and accessories such as hats, caps, bags, and belts.

Navistar International

Founded in 1902, Navistar International is famous for its sleeper and non-sleeper trucks as well as its distinct crosshatch grills. It manufactures the International brand commercial trucks, IC school buses, commercial buses, and chassis for step vans and motorhomes under the Workhorse brand. It also stepped into the private-label designing and manufacturing of diesel engines for vans, and SUVs, and is a trusted pickup truck, and diesel engine parts and services provider. All these ventures under their belt have given Navistart International an 11% market share in the American commercial trucking industry.

True to its name, Navistar International’s products and services are sold not just in the United States but also in Canada, Mexico, and Brazil, and distributed in over 90 countries through 60 dealers around the globe.

Volvo

One of the world’s leading heavy truck and engine manufacturers, Volvo trucks produces a wide variety of vocational and on-highway Class 8 vehicles, giving them a 10% market share in the United States. The famous Mack Trucks line also belongs to the Volvo family, which originally hails from Sweden.
